Multicultural Trunk Collection
District Library & Visual Media Services
The highly popular multicultural trunk collection gives students a "hands-on" experience of other cultures around the world.

Teachers can order trunks in the Visual Media Catalog to complement units on everything from Mexico and India to Japan and Africa. The trunks feature a variety of cultural items that can be incorporated into displays or passed around to give students a feel for the culture they are studying. Toys, clothing, money, flags, posters, recorded music, maps, crafts, and jewelry are just some of the many items available. On this page are displays created from the Spain/Portugal, Africa, and Cowboy/Western trunks.

Checkout Procedure

Trunks can be booked by phone and checked out for up to two weeks. The District Library & Visual Media Services will deliver trunks to the schools’ main office at least one day before they are scheduled for use. Teachers should return trunks to the office by 3 p.m. of the due date shown on the shipping label. We will then pick them up. Please do not return trunks through district mail.

Current Collection

The following trunks are available for checkout: Africa, Australia, Australia/New Zealand, British Isles, Canada, Central America/West Indies, China, Colorado, Cowboy/Western, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, India/Nepal/Sri Lanka, Italy, Japan Clothing, Japan Family, Japan Food, Japan General, Japan School, Korea, Mexico, Middle East, Middle Eastern Europe and Native America.

Update and Expansion Project

The District Library & Visual Media Services is updating and expanding the collection through donations of high quality cultural items that administrators, faculty, or staff have brought back from their world travels. We are especially interested in updating and expanding the following trunks: British Isles, Canada, France, Greece, India/Nepal/Sri Lanka, Middle East, Middle Eastern Europe, and Northern Europe. Anyone who is interested in donating items from these or other countries is encouraged to call 720-886-7080 or send an e-mail to visualmedia@cherrycreekschools.org.
