Application Process

STEP 1: Qualifications

  • You must meet the requirements necessary to obtain a Nursing License through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). If you do not have a current Colorado School Nurse License on file with CDE, please send a statement to inform us of your progress toward licensure. Please visit the Colorado Department of Education for further information regarding licensure.

      • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and
      • You must have a current, unrestricted, RN license from the State of Colorado registered with the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). If you have not registered with DORA, you may do so at

        ~ OR ~                                             
      • Bachelor's degree in a related field, and
      • Current national certification in school nursing, and
      • Three years of experience in school nursing, and
      • You must have a current, unrestricted, RN license from the State of Colorado registered with the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). If you have not registered with DORA, you may do so at
    • CPR Certification

STEP 2: Application

To be considered as an applicant for School Nurse positions, you must submit the following:

  • Application: Apply Online
      • Applications are accepted year-round for all positions and are maintained for six months.
      • Please fill out the application in full, including the work history and reference sections. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Submit the following application materials:
      • Transcripts from all universities and colleges attended (unofficial copies accepted)
      • A copy of your current Colorado School Nurse License from CDE or a statement of your progress toward obtaining this licensure
      • CPR certification
      • Resume

STEP 3: Apply for Positions

To add yourself to specific positions, click on the link below and log on using your user id and password. Select "Add Positions". ADD POSITIONS

  • Note: This option will only be available to you after you have submitted an online application. Follow the instructions as indicated on this site to add positions to your online application. You will only be able to add positions for the type of application you submitted (i.e. Licensed/Certified, Classified, or Administrator).

STEP 4: Review

When a vacancy occurs, applications are reviewed to determine if the applicant meets the requirements for the designated position. Interviews are then scheduled, at the school where the vacancy exists, for the applicants who best meet the qualifications of the position.

STEP 5: Appointment

Appointment to a position is made after a candidate has accepted an offer of employment and has passed a background check. New employees will be emailed a Licensed Hire Packet. Please complete it and return it within 20 business days. See Salary Schedule.

New employees are required to have Department of Justice fingerprints on file with our district prior to the start of employment. Staff is employed by official action of the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent.
