STEP 2: Student Teacher Placement Window
SPRING 2013: From October 4, 2012 through December 7, 2012
FALL 2013: From March 1, 2013 to April 12, 2013
During these time windows, our schools will be actively reviewing student teaching applicants by subject area.
Example #1: An elementary school would run a search in our system for all student teaching applicants that requested a placement in K-2, and/or 3-5 in their online student teaching application.
Example #2: A middle school or high school would run a search in our system for all student teaching applicants that requested a placement in Math (or other subject area) in their online student teaching application.
STEP 3: Contact
A CCSD representative or a cooperating teacher will contact the student teaching applicant(s) in which they are interested to set-up a meeting to discuss possible placement. In some cases, the student teaching applicant has already made a student teaching arrangement (a CCSD teacher has agreed to be your cooperating teacher AND this teacher has obtained approval from the principal at the school). If this applies to you then go directly to Step #4.
In addition, during the placement window, student teaching applicants are welcome to contact our schools directly to inquire about possible placement. All main phone numbers for our schools can be found on our website.
STEP 4: Placement
Once a student teaching placement has been arranged (a CCSD teacher has agreed to be your cooperating teacher AND this teacher has obtained approval from the principal at the school), our school will submit a Student Teacher Placement Form in our system. Upon receipt of this form in Human Resources, a background check will be ordered. After the student teaching candidate clears the background check, the form is processed and a copy of the finalized form will be sent to the university/college representative (or the student teacher directly if there is no university/college representative).
STEP 5: Student Teacher Orientation
A student teacher orientation will be scheduled if budgetary constraints allow. Student Teachers will be contacted with dates and information via the email address they supply in the online student teaching application.
STEP 6: Guaranteed Screening Interview
As part of your CCSD student teaching placement, you are guaranteed a general screening interview with a Cherry Creek Administrator. Student teachers will be contacted with dates and information via the email address they supplied in the online student teaching application.
***NOTE*** Cooperating teachers for Student Teaching and Internships cannot be a Probationary Teacher. Cooperating teachers MUST have 3 years employment with CCSD.
