We'd like to share with you a brief summary of the steps involved in the substitute hiring process.

  1. Substitute Office receives a complete electronic application (be sure you include email addresses for previous supervisors and professional references)
  2. Reference requests are emailed out to previous supervisors and professional references
  3. Electronic background check is submitted for processing when references are complete
  4. Background check, application and reference responses are reviewed by a Director of HR
  5. Upon Director approval the applicant receives an auto email with a link to the hiring packet, payroll documents and information about fingerprinting
  6. Entry into the HR/Payroll system begins when the completed hiring packet is received in HR and the applicants fingerprints are processed
  7. An auto email will be sent to the applicant to sign up for Orientation as soon as entry into the systems is complete

Factors that assist in expediting processing of applications:

  • Applications are complete (more information is better than less)
  • Email addresses are provided for previous supervisors and professional references
  • Valid Colorado Sub Authorization or Teaching License (required for certified sub applicants)
  • Front and back of Official Transcripts​
  • Reference requests are responded to promptly by previous supervisors and professional references
  • Fingerprints are scheduled with HR and processed
  • Complete hiring packets are submitted to HR for processing​
