21 CCSD teachers achieve National Board Certification

​The Cherry Creek School District is proud to announce that 21 teachers from across the district achieved National Board Certification in 2017, while three additional teachers successfully renewed their certification. Cherry Creek Schools now has 154 National Board Certified teachers, the third-highest number in the state.

Each of these accomplished educators earned the profession’s highest mark of achievement through a rigorous, performance-based, peer-review process, demonstrating their proven impact on student learning and achievement. National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education and consists of four components: written assessment of content knowledge, reflection on student work samples, video and analysis of teaching practice and documented impact and accomplishments as a teaching professional.

“Achieving National Board Certification is a long and difficult process and demonstrates these teachers’ absolute commitment to their students and their profession,” said Dr. Harry Bull, superintendent of Cherry Creek Schools. “Outstanding classroom teachers such as these recognize that their professional learning and growth never ends.”

Nationally, 5,470 teachers earned National Board Certification in 2017, including 87 from Colorado.  Colorado was one of seven states that increased their total number of National Board Certified teachers by more than 10%.
