Three recently elected members of the Cherry Creek Schools Board of Education took office at a special board meeting on Nov. 23. Incumbent David Willman and new board members Janice McDonald and Eric Parish were sworn in by outgoing board President Jim O'Brien, as family, friends and the district leadership team looked on.
On Nov. 3, voters returned Willman to District C in the Smoky Hill High School feeder area. Parish was elected to represent District A in the west area of the district and McDonald will represent District B in the Overland High School feeder area. They join current board members Randy Perlis and Karen Fisher on the Board of Education, which sets policy and provides strategic vision for the district and its 54,000 students.
After the swearing in ceremony, the new board elected Perlis as president, Willman as vice president, McDonald as secretary, Fisher as treasurer and Parish as assistant secretary/treasurer.
At the Nov. 23 meeting, Dr. Harry Bull, superintendent of Cherry Creek Schools, welcomed the newly-elected board members. He also thanked outgoing board members Jim O'Brien and Claudine McDonald, both of whom were term-limited, for their years of dedicated service to Cherry Creek Schools. O'Brien and McDonald will be honored at a public reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 9, at the Student Achievement Resource Center (SARC), located at 14188 E. Briarwood Avenue in Centennial.
