Deputy Superintendent Dr. Scott Siegfried named sole finalist for top job

Dr. Scott Siegfried. The Cherry Creek Schools Board of Education announced on Friday, March 9, 2018, that Dr. Scott Siegfried, currently deputy superintendent, is the sole finalist for the position of superintendent after the retirement of Superintendent Dr. Harry Bull at the end of the current school year.

"The board's most important task is to select an exemplary leader for the Cherry Creek School District," said Board President David Willman. "We believe that Dr. Siegfried is the most qualified candidate for the superintendent's position. His vision for the district is one of continued innovation and excellence for each and every student."

Willman went on to say that the board reviewed letters of reference for Siegfried from a broad range of educational leaders as well as leaders from outside of the education system, evaluated his educational credentials and interviewed him on his plan and philosophy for the future of the district.

Siegfried is a veteran of the Cherry Creek School District, having served in roles as teacher and administrator over more than 20 years. Siegfried received his bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in biology and kinesiology before earning his master's degree and his teaching certificate from the University of Colorado Denver and his Ph.D from the University of Denver.

Siegfried began his first student teaching post at Eaglecrest High School in 1995 and he went on to build a district résumé that includes posts as a teacher at Eaglecrest and a dean of students at Laredo Middle School. He helped open Falcon Creek Middle School as assistant principal and Liberty Middle School as principal. At the district level, he's served as Executive Director of Student Achievement Services, Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, Associate Superintendent of Educational Operations and Deputy Superintendent, working directly with three CCSD superintendents – Monte Moses, Mary Chesley and, most recently, Harry Bull.

In his current role as deputy superintendent, Siegfried is responsible for the general supervision and leadership of all facets of Cherry Creek Schools. He's played an integral role in steering the direction of the district, having worked closely on issues ranging from start times to new graduation requirements.

According to Colorado law, the board must wait 14 days from the date of the announcement, before officially hiring Siegfried as superintendent.
