Beaver Creek
Our Philosophy in Beaver Creek is that all children have a right to learn and achieve to their highest potential. As a team, we help children to become the best they can be. We strive to create a collaborative learning atmosphere that brings students together to take responsibility for their own learning.

Reading and Writing

Reading encompasses both literature-based anthologies, news magazines, and novels. A great deal of emphasis is on writing, narrative as well as expository. We expect students to become more independent in their reading choices at home and check their comprehension at school to support the school's Hot Rod program. We work with the 6-Trait, Wordly Wise, and Step Up to Writing programs. Vocabulary is a big emphasis in both oral and written language and is practiced through our news notes program.

Spelling

We ability group for spelling to meet the needs of all students.

Social Studies and Science

The social studies units include cities, Native American Indians, current events, map/globe skills. Europe and Australia are the continents covered. Science curriculum includes Matter, Force, and Energy, Natural Resources, and Earth, Moon, and Sun. Along with this we will also be instructing using FOSS Science.
