NEWS FROM THE ACTIVITIES OFFICE
The Eaglecrest Activities
Office wishes to extend a warm welcome to all our returning Raptors as
well as those new to Eaglecrest, especially our Class of 2015!
Eaglecrest is a large school, and a benefit of that are the many
opportunities for students to get involved. All students can find their
special niche here where they can pursue their passions and interests!
When you participate in
something that interests you, you make a difference in the lives of
others as well as benefiting yourself. Eaglecrest students are our
future leaders, and we want to help you become successful. Getting
involved and making a connection with an adult here at school is the
avenue to having a positive high school experience beyond the classroom.
Students can make a
significant impact in their high school career—and these experiences
carry over into adulthood—by getting involved. Parents, please encourage
your sons/daughters to get involved in a sport or an activity! Research
indicates that students who feel a connection to their school and who
get involved in extracurricular activities will be more successful
academically as well as being more social and civic minded. Our clubs,
activities, and athletics promote leadership opportunities, school and
community service opportunities, and the ability to make new friendships
with peers and adults. Students and parents often ask, “What is the
best way to meet new friends in high school?” The answer is simple—join a
club and attend school-sponsored events; be part of our Raptor school
spirit and pride. REMEMBER—your four years here are but a short time
when compared to the benefits you receive for the rest of your life by
GETTING INVOLVED!
Here are some quotes from adults at Eaglecrest encouraging students to get involved:
Clubs and activities are
places where Eaglecrest students express themselves in ways far beyond
the traditional high school curriculum. EHS clubs and activities really
help people with similar interests connect!
The more you invest in school activities, the more important your school work becomes to you.
Participating in a club
makes high school more fun. It is an opportunity to make friends and,
at the same time, make a difference in your school and community.
You only get to experience
high school life once! Make the most of it in everything you do! Your
involvement—both in and out of the classroom—is what makes Eaglecrest
great.
Getting involved is what creates our dynamic school culture.
September is Club Recruitment and Get Involved
month. Students, consider joining one of the 52 clubs and honor
societies. Listen for announcements and watch for signs advertising when
clubs are meeting. A complete listing is available in the Activities
Office where we also have a Club Quilt containing notecards that list
the time and dates that all clubs meet.
If you have any
questions, visit us or call us at 886-1226. Lynn Tozier, the Activities
Secretary, is available to help, or you may email Kelly Snell,
Activities Director, at ksnellcherrycreekschools.org.
Demonstrate your R*A*P*T*O*R Way through Activities:
Respect
by stretching outside of your
comfort zone (if that is what it takes) to get involved in a club that
interests you and for which you have a passion, you are respecting
yourself and will develop a newfound respect for new friends and adults
at EHS.
Achievement
it is a proven fact that the more you are involved in your school, the better your grades and academic achievements will be.
Pride
By getting involved and
participating in school events, EHS will become your second home where
you can continually demonstrate your spirit, pride, and loyalty!
Teamwork
making new
friends in and out of the classroom grows your circle of friends and
support systems. Friendships are an important asset in high school so
you have people to have fun with and to study with.
Opportunity
there are priceless opportunities
you will have being a part of a club. You can be part of a planning
committee, take part in school activities, develop your leadership
skills, speak in front of groups, earn awards, receive recognitions,
create and organize school events, participate in community events;
whatever it is you get involved in will expand your repertoire of skills
and opportunities for college and beyond.
Responsibility
as a high school young adult, you
will recognize and demonstrate responsible actions, words, choices,
friendships, and successes.
