in the Denver Scholastic Chess League.We have done wellin the past,

Voice Within is a club where students
come together to share, read, write, and enjoy various kinds of
poetry. We encourage members to expand their knowledge and experience
with different types, varieties, and forms of poetry. We offer a
different perspective about reading, writing and sharing poems.
Students are free to write any style of poetry they desire from
sonnets and haikus to four-stanza and free verse poems. All students
are welcome regardless of their level of experience with poetry
- whether they just like listening to poetry to enjoy writing poetry. |

who are taking French or who simply have an interest in French culture.French
Club kicks off the school year by participating in the Homecoming
parade.In the months that follow, we celebrate French culture with
a variety of activities whether it is vying to create the most dazzling
hat for the fete of Saint Catherine, caroling in French during the
holiday season, searching for the bean in Three Kings cake in January,
celebrating Mardi Gras with authentic Cajun food, or Fishingfellow
students on April Fools Day.We also get together to go to special
events that have a French connection such as movies, plays, or exhibitions
at the art museum.In the last few years we have gone to see the
Impressionist exhibit at the art museum and the play, Cyrano de
Bergerac at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. |

The USFIRST Robotics Club - Raptacon - invites anyone to join us who is interested in programming, manufacturing, electronics, website, animation, public relations, and design. We meet weekly for the first semester with several engineers and adult mentors training and teambuilding. In January and February we build a robot designed to play the game unveiled each January by NASA engineers. Membership in FCCLA is open to any Eaglecrest student. The national Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America student organization has 250,000 members. Nutrition, fashion, interior design, child development, family, and related careers determine the year's projects in community service, state competitions, school services, leadership training and networking in the community. Annual FCCLA projects include a Coat Drive for the homeless, Pop tab collection for the Ronald McDonald House, sponsorship of the EHS Race for the Cure Team, and the Adopt-A-Family Holiday Project. The club provides opportunities for leadership education and social activities as well as for earning community service hours.

This is an ensemble of talented musicians who meet once a week to
rehearse and ultimately perform a variety of handbell music. A highlight
of our year is performing in our winter orchestra and choir concerts at
school. We take our music into the community during December when we
take our one-day "Good Vibrations Bell Tour." We meet all year and
members are selected by audition as they must be able to read music.

a connection to our community. Our mission is accomplished through
various committees, class projects, individual responsibilities, and the

Color guard is an activity open to all Eaglecrest High School students
interested in participation with the marching band as a member of the
visual ensemble. The color guard incorporates aspects of dance and flags
to enhance the visual aspect of the marching band. Color guard is a
cocurricular class that meets in the fall semester, and in addition to
the class, there are after school rehearsals as well. As members of the
marching band, color guard members will perform in numerous
competitions, parades, and half-time at all home varsity football games.
Students participating for four years may be eligible to receive a half
credit in physical education.

Jazz Band functions as the
cocurricular musical group designed to expose students to distinctive
jazz, rock, and Latin styles of music. Jazz Band is an audition only
class. The jazz bands are very active with concerts and competitions
throughout the school year. Standard instrumentation for the jazz band
are five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones, guitar, bass and
drum kit. All students with the appropriate background are encouraged to
audition. Our jazz bands are the musical ambassadors of the
instrumental music department.

With an annual membership of approximately 75 members, the marching band
is a musical marching unit organized during the summer and early fall
ending in October with the State competition. Membership is open to all
interested students with or without experience. The marching band
provides entertainment for home varsity football games. It performs
annually before many spectators at various marching competitions,
parades, and pep assemblies. Marching band is a cocurricular activity
that meets during the regular school day with additional outside
rehearsals. Students who participate in marching band all four years of
high school may receive one half physical education credit. Marching
band is based upon an atmosphere of music with a lot of fun mixed in.

The Chamber Orchestra is an ensemble of select string players who wish
to broaden their musical experience. We meet once a week after school to
play chamber music that complements our classroom repertoire. We
perform in our community and for district and school events. Members
must also be enrolled in Symphonic Orchestra.

Technical Theatre Crew works after school on all current productions in
the Eaglecrest Theatre. These include band, choir, dance, and orchestra
concerts, and the theatrical productions (school musical, fall and
spring plays). Members work on lighting sets, sound, scenic painting,
and stage management. Although most members of the tech crew are
enrolled in the Advanced Theatre Crew Class, it isn’t required to work
in the Theatre. Students should come with a curiosity to learn something
new and be willing to work hard because “the show must go on.”

This year-long class is devoted to the creation of Wings, the Eaglecrest
yearbook. Being on the yearbook staff is designed to teach various
journalistic techniques like writing, layout design, photography, and
