The 8th grade
The 8th grade
science curriculum is State Standards based and emphasizes Chemistry,
Physics, Human Biology and Process Skills. It is immersed in the following
concepts:
- Chemistry
(Atomic Structure, Elements, Molecules, Compounds, KTM, Chemical
Changes, Separation of Mixtures and Conservation of Mass)Physics (Energy, Force and Motion)Human Biology (Genetics and Body Systems)
- Process Skills (Observation, Active questioning, Prediction, Measurement, Analysis, Inference, Classification, Communication)
At the end of 8th
grade students will have completed a 3-year rigorous science program
that provides them with a great academic foundation for any high school
level science class. To further ensure success at the High School level,
this class will also concentrate on the professional skills necessary
for a high school student. Students will be introduced and able to
practice the following professional indicators:
- Resource allocation (time, materials, etc.)Interpersonal skills (teaming, leadership, cultural diversity, etc.)Information (acquisition, organization etc.)System (organizations, performance etc.)
- Technology (selection, application, etc.)
