Spanish 1A
This course emphasizes audio-lingual instruction for students with little or no background in the target language. A textbook is used along with a variety of other materials. The primary focus is on listening, comprehension, oral proficiency, the study of basic grammatical structures, and cultural appreciation. Regular homework is assigned. Although successful completion of levels 1A and 1B in middle school does not earn high school credit, it prepares students for level II in high school.
Spanish 1B Pre-Requisite: Completion of Level A
This course is a continuation of Spanish A. There is an increased emphasis on the development of reading and writing skills and oral proficiency. A textbook is used along with a variety of other materials. Students use their foundation knowledge from Spanish 1A to continue to expand their ability to listen, read, write, and orally communicate in the target language. Vocabulary enrichment is emphasized. Regular homework is assigned. Although successful completion of levels 1A and 1B in middle school does not earn high school credit, it prepares students for level II in high school.
