Math I
This course is designed for 6th grade level students. Addressing the Mathematics Content Standards, this course focuses on:
- Number theory which includes operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Estimation skills
- Geometry and measurement including perimeter, area, volume, angle measurement, and standard and metric measurement systems
- Probability and statistics including measures of central tendency, collecting and organizing data, and calculating probability
- Fundamental algebraic concepts including recognizing and using variables
Math II
This course is designed for 7th grade level students who have successfully completed a program equivalent to Foundation of Math I. Topics are taught for depth of understanding and application. Topics include number theory, estimation skills, ratio and proportion, percent, geometry and measurement, probability, statistics, and fundamental concepts of algebra. Problem-solving strategies and applications of mathematics are emphasized. Graphing calculators and computer technology are integrated into this course.
