Student Achievement Services (Special Education)
To meet the unique needs of a student identified with a disability, a variety of intervention services are offered at Flacon Creek Middle School. Student needs are addressed through the implementation of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that is developed and monitored through a process which includes input from the student, parents, teachers, counselors, and mental health professionals. Intervention services are provided through a three-tiered model (see previous page) that provides different levels of instruction (universal, targeted, intensive) with ongoing data analysis and progress monitoring.
Academic Intervention
The same intervention services that are offered to special education students are also offered to students who are not progressing as expected, but are NOT identified with a disability. Specific, research-based practices, that are known to improve student outcomes, are implemented and monitored to document effectiveness. Through a collaborative decision-making process, parents and school personnel will determine appropriate intervention classes and use progress monitoring tools to determine the student responsiveness to the intervention (RtI).

Intensive interventions are delivered in an individual or small-group setting by the special education teacher. These include intensive, individualized interventions for students whose academic performance or behavior lag significantly behind the norm for their grade-level peers.
