Greenwood Elementary provides a rich environment where students thrive, and parents and school staff team together to build upon the assets and values that all children need to lead successful lives. Our focus on high academic achievement is paired with a goal of developing a strong sense of character. We work to develop respect for self and others and respect for the world around us. Greenwood strives to build a caring community of learners in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our rigorous curriculum has an academic emphasis in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. All students (K-5) will have a strong exposure to physical education, music, art, research and media skills and technology. We value having state-of-the art technology and the appropriate student and staff development to use that technology effectively.
Greenwood features several programs to enhance our classrooms and support the needs of our students, to include Gifted and Talented, Special Education and Intervention Programming across all grade levels. We provide culturally relevant instruction that is differentiated to meet the needs of all children. We believe in cooperative learning that is hands-on, fun and engaging.
The strength of our school is in the strong partnership between staff, students, parents and community, who are connected to create a vibrant learning community focused on children. We value a traditional approach, hold high expectations for all students, embody strong instructional practices, apply basic skills and focus on assessment and accountability. We strive to instill a love of learning in all children. Together, we bring to life our school mission: To inspire every student to think, to learn, to achieve, to care.
