Welcome from Principal Morris
Lisa Morris Principal

Welcome to High Plains Elementary!  High Plains is committed to the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students.  We demonstrate this commitment through our instructional programming as well as our relationships with our students and families.

The culture at High Plains is filled with positive energy and one in which children feel safe and respected.  As a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) school, we have clearly outlined our behavioral expectations through the “High 5 at High Plains.”  We teach students these common expectations through the High 5: “Safe, Respectful, Responsible, Achieve, Positive.”  Students are positively reinforced on a regular basis for meeting those expectations.

Instructionally, we are committed to providing a rigorous curriculum across content areas while instilling a love of learning in our students.  Instruction is differentiated to meet the variety of needs of our learners.  We encourage collaboration among our students because students gain a higher level of understanding when they can discuss their thinking and consider the perspective of others.  Our talented staff is committed to continuous learning through professional development.  We have high expectations of our students as well as ourselves.

The teaching of core curriculum skills and concepts is complemented with excellent programming in art, music, library, physical education, science and technology.  Technology is also integrated throughout the school through the use of SmartBoards, document cameras, and laptop computers.

Our school is nestled in a wonderful community.  Our parents and community members are essential to the success of our school.  Volunteers also make a substantial difference in the school.  Many parents are involved in our PTCO which organizes fundraising as well as community building events for our school.  Our PTCO has also worked to organize our extra-curricular offerings for students.  We have a wide variety of extra-curricular programs for our students that provide additional opportunities for students and promote the development of the whole child.

At High Plains, we work collaboratively with our students, staff, and families to promote our district mission, “To inspire each student to think, to learn, to achieve, and to care.”

We’re proud to be a part of High Plains Elementary!

Lisa Morris, Principal
