Principal's Message
Happy Spring, and welcome incoming sixth grade students and parents! We hope you find informational meetings helping with your transition to Horizon. Our Horizon students are on the move! The season has changed, and so have our students. I'm sure you have noticed a change in your student as well. Barbara Hoffman says this quite well, "Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and celebrate the journey." That's easy for Barbara to say when she is not experiencing our journey! For some of us, the journey is difficult, but let's look on the bright side of what's happening at Horizon. First of all I want to say "thank you" to our parent community for your support with TCAP. Thank you for making sure your student was in school during the test; we had a 99% attendance rate for the five days we were testing. And, thanks to you, we collected a large amount of snacks for the students.
Congratulations to Shelly Grandell, our 6-1 Science teacher, who has been nominated as a NASA teacher liaison. What an honor, and we are proud of her!
As the weather gets warmer, please be mindful that our children have grown since last fall, and most of their clothing will be too small. Please monitor what your child wears to school and plan your purchases with Horizon's dress code in mind. You will find the guidelines in the Student Planner.
