Overland Student-Athlete Receives Sportswomen of Colorado Award

Somin Lee was recognized at the Sportswomen of Colorado Thirty-Seventh Annual Awards celebration on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the Denver Mariott Tech Center. She was awarded the Colorado Golfer of the Year (2010) for her accolades on and off the course.

The Overland High School Senior had a great year maintaining a 3.6 GPA while winning the Colorado 5A State Championships last Spring by a decisive 6 stroke victory. In fact, in 2010, Somin won 5 tournaments including American Junior Golf Association Nebraska Championship, Colorado Junior Golf Series Championship, and placed second in the Optimist International Junior Championship at PGA National while being voted as the Colorado Women's Golf Association player of the year. She has posted low scores on the golf course and high scores in the classroom winning Overland's Trigonometry award and third in a school Art competition. Somin's Senior season has got off to a scorching start with a win at the Grandview Invitational at Heritage Eagle Bend on Monday posting a 7 under - 65. She has accepted a full scholarship to Pepperdine University in the Fall where we expect her to continue her rousing success.
