Our second grade team warmly welcomes you to Rolling Hills.
One of the biggest milestones in second grade is learning the importance of
responsibility including: academic, social, and personal responsibility. We
eagerly encourage students to develop a strong desire to take ownership in
their learning.
We will be focusing on the following academic areas of
learning:
Reading
Our primary focus is
comprehension skills, fluency, and learning to apply these skills across all
academic areas.
Writing
Second graders work a variety
of writing skills with a major emphasis on organization, grammar, forming
ideas, and correct usage of capitals and punctuation.
Math
Second grade uses the Everyday Math program
focusing on all six Colorado State standards: number sense, algebra, data and
probability, geometry, measurement, and computation.
Science
Our second grade science units
include: Balance and Motion, Germs, Interaction of Living Things, and Changes
Over Time.
Social Studies
Safety, Map skills, South America, and North American
including: Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
