SUMMIT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kindergarten Enrichment Program

The Kindergarten Enrichment Program (KEP) is a valuable resource to the Summit Community as an extension of the Kindergarten day offered by Extended Child Services (ECS).  It is a fee-based and self-supporting program that offers enrichment for kindergarten students during the half-day they are not attending kindergarten.  Kindergarten Enrichment can offer sessions in the morning and/or in the afternoon, depending on the number of students enrolled in each session.  Our program works very closely with Summit Kindergarten teachers to follow their curriculum and reinforce academic skills our students learn in their kindergarten class.  We offer academic support to our students through one-on-one sessions, small group sessions, as well as large group sessions.  Students also participate in hands-on, self-directed experiences and activities; these include reading, listening to stories, math, science, imaginative and creative play, poems, art, and music.  The program is governed by the Cherry Creek School District, and by the Colorado Department of Human Services - Division of Child Services.  This program is subject to all applicable Federal and State Laws and regulations, as well as all applicable Board of Education policies.

Enrollment in KEP

All children must be fully enrolled before attending Kindergarten Enrichment.  To participate, parents/guardians must complete an Extended Child Services (ECS) Enrollment Form.  The non-refundable deposit of $100 is due at the time of registration.  This deposit will reserve a space for your child in Kindergarten Enrichment.  This program is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Holiday Closures

The Kindergarten Enrichment Program at Summit follows the regular school calendar.

Cancellation Due to Weather

Closure of the Cherry Creek School District #5 due to weather conditions will automatically cancel the Kindergarten Enrichment Program.  On delayed start days due to weather, school will begin 60 minutes after the regular start time.

Before and After School Program (BAS)

The Before and After School Program is a daycare program offered by Extended Child Services (ECS) for all Summit Elementary students to attend before and after school.  Students may attend the program in conjunction with Kindergarten Enrichment.  There is an additional fee to attend Before and After School (BAS).  For more information about the program please contact Joshua Steiner at (720) 886-6467.

If you need extended daycare for your child, feel your child will benefit from extra social time and reinforcement of academics, or wish to prepare your child for a full day of school before first grade; then please consider our Kindergarten Enrichment Program (KEP).  We look forward to providing you with high quality child care that is safe, affordable, convenient, and will assist your child in their physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and creative growth.
