Dear Parents,
Our staff at West Middle School is committed to continue
with our mission of inspiring every student to think, to learn, to achieve, and
to care. Please join us in this mission
by actively participating in your child’s education. We encourage you to maintain ongoing contact
with our West teaching staff and our administrative team throughout the
year. If you ever have questions or concerns,
we encourage you to contact your student’s teacher right away. This will allow you to partner with the
teacher in order to correct problems or address concerns while they are still
easily manageable. We also encourage
you to contact us at any time with questions, ideas or concerns. We truly welcome your feedback and will work
to implement it in meeting your child’s educational needs.
As your principal, I continue to hear from parents about the
tools they find to be most helpful.
Parents always express how helpful it is to check in on PowerParent two
or three times each week to monitor their student’s grades. Your students should also make a regular
practice of monitoring their own progress in each class, as they are all aware
of how to access PowerSchool via the student portal. Please work to use COLE to keep an eye on
what’s coming in days and weeks ahead.
Using COLE is especially helpful if students are absent or might be
missing important class handouts and resources.
These tools and practices will assist you in being an active part of
your child’s education here at West Middle School. Please use your West Side Story as a resource
to keep on top of school activities, PTCO events, and other important
scheduling information. Also, make sure
that you’re signed up to receive the “West Weekly News” email updates through
our PTCO. As we work to go green and
reduce printing and mailing costs, please access your West Side Story and other
school information via the WMS website at www.west.ccsd.k12.co.us or from the
district website at www.cherrycreekschools.org.
Warmest Regards,
David Strohfus
