Principal's Message

Willow Creek is a school that prides itself on providing world-class instruction; creating strong teacher, student, parent, and community relationships; and instilling in children the ability to think, to learn, to achieve, and to care.

Our entire staff is dedicated to continuous learning through professional development and use of school achievement data to discover the most effective ways to teach our students. We have high expectations for our students, our colleagues, and ourselves through trust, hard work, and positive reinforcement of our collective strengths.

I strongly believe that parent and community partnerships are an essential piece to the success of a school. At Willow Creek we are privileged to have parent volunteers involved with enriching the experiences of our children on a daily basis. Our P.T.O. is a tremendous support and contributes significantly to the warm, inviting atmosphere of Willow Creek. P.T.O. coordinates the activities of our volunteers; helps plan useful, well-run services (such as registration and welcoming events for new and returning families); provides valuable funding for classroom support; and meets regularly to further support school activities. The school/parent relationship is a vital, essential piece to our success.

Willow Creek has been frequently recognized for outstanding academic achievement. The John Irwin Schools of Excellence Award has been conferred annually since 2001 to the top 8% of Colorado schools based on student achievement scores. Willow Creek has attained this prestigious award every year since the John Irwin Award’s inception. In 1999 and 2006, Willow Creek received recognition as a national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. We are one of few schools in Colorado to receive this award twice or more.

Strong, rigorous academics are reinforced and enhanced by the many extracurricular activities also provided. Our M.A.D.D. Hatters musical program, Willow Creek Skippers, Willow Creek Outreach on the World, Chess Club, Destination Imagination teams, Intramurals, Student Council, Foreign Language program, Band/Orchestra program, Banking Days, Kids Ink, and Camp Cheley experience (5th grade) are all designed to develop real world application, relevance, and balance to academic skills students learn in the classroom. Students are encouraged and supported in “pushing their limits” in regard to their bodies, minds, and characters.

Willow Creek is a special place! The academic and extracurricular excellence we provide to our students and community continues to be our top priority.
