Unified Sports Partner Programs®

Unified Sports® is a program that brings together persons with developmental disabilities and their non-disabled peers who are of similar age and ability, on the same team to train for competition against other Unified Sports teams. With the help of a volunteer coach, they will train together year-round in a variety of sports after school and on the weekends. Only a few hours a week gives everyone involved a chance to develop sports skills, build relationships and reap benefits.

Athlete Sign-up and Eligibility
Persons are eligible for Special Olympics provided they are eight years old and above and are considered to have developmental disabilities as determined by their localities. Also eligible are persons who have closely related developmental disabilities such as those who have functional limitation, both in general learning and adaptive skills such as recreation, work, independent living, self-direction, or self-care.

Volunteering
Volunteers are essential to Special Olympics. We have over 50 volunteers we rely on for continued success in the Cherry Creek School District Special Olympics program. As the number of athletes increase, so do the number of volunteers needed.
