Mission

 Our Mission...

Basic principles of effective education guide Laredo Middle School. While keeping tenets of middle school philosophy in place--smaller communities of learners, and a rich elective program--Laredo focuses its academic program on meeting state standards that define what every student should know and be able to do. Teachers implement a variety of teaching strategies that integrate “hands-on” activities and small group work that address visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles.

Our curricular program is implemented through the framework of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization.  The MYP has been devised to guide students in their search for a sense of belonging in the world around them.  It also aims to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world.  This means teaching them to become independent learners who can recognize relationships between school subjects and the world outside, and learn to combine relevant knowledge, experience, and critical thinking to solve authentic problems.
