Terminology
These terms could be listed above and used during the phases of a project:
- Pre-Design: Research, space planning, and conceptual design
- Schematic Design (SD): Concepts are translated into physical drawings or visualizations that lay out the basic site and spaces but lack detail
- Design Development (DD): Drawings are refined to include details and precise dimensions along with coordination of structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and material selections
- Construction Documents (CD): A final set of drawings and specifications with all necessary technical information included in order to obtain a building permit
