Meadow Point is offering a club for 4th and 5th grade students this year.
The “Battle of the Books” Literacy Club is designed to encourage elementary students to:
• Read in their leisure time.
• Read quality literature.
• Read for information as well as pleasure.
By choosing to participate in this club, children will be introduced to a variety of fiction and non-fiction books. Students of all reading levels are invited to participate, and will read at least 5 books from a list of award-winning pieces of literature. During the book club study sessions, participating students will work collaboratively to discuss the books and respond to questions about plot, characters, setting and theme.
Students may be in other clubs and still be allowed to participate in Battle of the Books. However, the student will have to come up with an agreed upon rotation schedule between the two clubs.
