About Us

  • Traverse Academy is a program for students (grades 4 - 12) within CCSD who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Specifically, the program will offer nine hours of Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) care each week and will be integrated with customized educational programming. Following the IOP programming, students will move into the DSent programming aimed at preparing students to successfully return to their home schools. The length of attendance as well as the clinical and educational support offered will vary based on student needs. The average length of attendance for a student could range from 8-12 weeks or longer in some cases. All eligible students will receive care regardless of insurance.

At full capacity, the facility is expected to provide care for 48-60 students at one time. The facility will operate much like a traditional school with hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The name, Traverse Academy, is a nod to the four great traverses in Colorado mountain climbing, representing obstacles to overcome as one moves from one peak to the next.
