• The CCSD STEAM  department is a branch in the Career and Innovation Department working in collaboration with the Career and Technical Education Department to create hands-on learning opportunities for students.

STEAM connects principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) to solve problems faced by individuals and society.

STEAM-focused teaching and learning instills a deep and extensive understanding of STEAM content applied in real-world contexts.

    Students collaboratively engage in

    • Critical thinking
    • Scientific inquiry
    • Content knowledge application
    • Engineering design processes
    • Evidence-based reasoning and argumentation
    • Effective written and oral communication

    Vision

The vision of STEAM education in the Cherry Creek School District is as follows:

STEAM for All: Every student is a STEAM student. Every school is a STEAM school

This vision statement reflects that every student in the school district should develop a set of future workforce skills in order to become successful problem solvers in our society.  With the advent of internet technologies and social networks, our society is increasingly becoming global in nature.  Software systems and applications will continue to dissolve the barriers which prevent collaboration. As such, all of our schools will have the responsibility of engaging students in STEAM education through regular and/or extended day programming.

    Commitment

We believe that our world can only survive when the next generation is prepared to innovate and lead with compassion in a global society.

    Our STEAM Commitment

The Cherry Creek School District is committed to providing comprehensive, cutting-edge STEAM Education in every school, for every student, so all students will:

    • Do their own thinking
    • Have meaningful experiences
    • Create, innovate and collaborate
    • Care about their learning
    • Have an impact on their world
    • Prepare for a bright future
  • Elementary Project Support Team (EPST)

The Elementary Project Support Team was created to support teachers in their classrooms with a variety of STEM-related projects. This includes working directly with students and teachers on new or large STEM projects, after-school STEM clubs, and large events like STEAM-a-palooza, RoboCon and school STEM days.  The team also coordinate resources between schools and district departments, and research additional resources when necessary (websites, relevant videos, etc.).  The team covers all CCSD feeders and supports all schools on the elementary level.
