District Announcements

  • CCSD Impacted by Pearson Data Breach

Pearson, a national publisher of print and digital textbooks, recently experienced a data breach affecting more than 13,000 schools and universities. The Pearson system in question is AIMSweb 1.0, a system that monitors students’ academic progress through frequent assessment. The district does not currently use AIMSweb 1.0.

Cherry Creek School was notified that just over 1,400 current and former students were impacted by the breach. The student data involved was limited to first and last name, and date of birth. Pearson does not believe the data has been misused. Currently, the District is working to notify individuals directly impacted by the breach by mail. If you have not received a letter by October 4, your student’s data is not affected.

Families impacted will have access to Experian credit monitoring service paid for by Pearson.

Please know that Cherry Creek Schools is in compliance with the Colorado Student Data Privacy and Transparency Act, and obtains data protection agreements with contracted providers to protect student data.
