Safety Measures at Fox Ridge
Last updated 8/7/2020
Fox Ridge is committed to the safety of our students, staff, and community. In an effort to create the safest environment possible we utilized guidance from the Colorado Department of Education and Colorado Department of Health and Public Environment. For the most up to date information regarding our restart plan see Cherry Creek School District Planning Forward 20-21.
At Fox Ridge we are implementing a variety of strategies to make the safest environment possible. As a community, we will social distance to the greatest extent possible. Our blended model with only half of students attending in person allows us to reduce the class size by 50%. While each classroom layout varies, teachers are purposefully setting up their spaces to ensure social distancing to the greatest extent possible between the students and staff.
Students are cohorted by their grade level so they only interact with half of their peers at their grade level. We do not have any mixed grade-level classes. To promote social distancing, students will not have access to a school locker. They will instead carry their backpack and belongings with them from class to class.
Students are required to wear a mask during the school day. They may take them off during lunch and times of physical activity.
Students will be instructed about the best methods to wash their hands and given time throughout the day to do so. These times will be structured within their school day as well as when requested.
Athletics are currently cancelled at the middle school level. Our activities and clubs may happen through other formats when appropriate. Please check our website for the most up-to-date information about athletics and activities.
Fox Ridge is being supplied with the following protective supplies that include sanitizer, face masks and covering, face shields, cleaning supplies, gloves, and thermometers. We will have sanitizer in each classroom and desk tops will be cleaned between classes.
Traditional water fountains will be closed as we transition back to school. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and can use our water bottle fill stations located throughout the school.
Visitors will be limited at this time. School staff will connect with students, parents, and guardians through virtual formats, i.e. Microsoft Teams and Google Meets.
