Vocal Music Teacher

Abigail Cate has been at Overland since 2011 and conducts Cecilian Singers, Nine-Mile Jazz, and Jewell Avenue Jazz, music directs the winter musical, and teaches beginning piano and theatre courses. Ensembles under her leadership have been honored at state and regional competitions, and students of her studio are selected yearly to perform with the Colorado All-State Choirs and All-State Jazz Choirs. Before teaching at Overland High School, she was the Director of Choral Studies at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, Colorado from 2003-2011.

Mr. Ryan Monarch

Band Teacher

Ryan Monarch is originally from Detroit, Michigan. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in instrumental music education and the French horn and later received his master’s degree from the University of Colorado in music education and conducting. Ryan managed the Rifle High School band program in Rifle, Colorado for 5 years before moving to Overland High School in 2014, where he has taught music to band students for 7 years.​

Mr. Michael Petit

Orchestra Teacher

This is Mr. Petit’s second year at Overland High School as the Orchestra Director. He has taught in Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, and now Colorado. Mr. Petit holds a Bachelors in Violin Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College and a Masters in Music Education with a concentration in Viola Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
