• One of the greatest needs in Cherry Creek Schools and at the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus is finding individuals with experience and expertise who are interested in joining a CTE (Career and Technical Education) Program Advisory Committee.

CTE Advisory Committee members act as advisors to our educators, providing guidance on the maintenance and revision of their curriculum. Without industry partners willing to help shape our curriculum by informing teachers about industry trends and needs, educators may be teaching solely from textbooks, without any real-world direction.

CTE programs should be designed to meet the workforce development needs of the community, while also addressing the interests and goals of individual students. CTE Program Advisory Committees strengthen the collaboration between the educators delivering the curriculum and the communities they serve. Programs that operate without advisory committee’s risk teaching outdated material, providing obsolete skills, or missing valuable opportunities for students.

CTE programs with active advisory support tend to teach the most up-to-date curriculum and integrate the latest technology, thanks to the expertise brought by committee members. This gives students a significant advantage compared to those in programs that rely solely on teachers’ experience or occasional curriculum updates. The dialogue between advisory committee members and CTE educators brings real-world input into the classroom, creating a shared responsibility for preparing students for today’s workforce and society.
