Arts, athletics and activities support academic achievement
Across the Cherry Creek School District, thousands of students are participating in a wide variety of arts, athletics and activities. Research shows that students who take part in extracurricular activities have fewer unexcused absences and discipline problems and higher grade point averages and test scores. Involvement also fosters success in college and the workplace.
The Cherry Creek School District offers a wide range of sports, clubs and activities for students at all grade levels. At the elementary level, activities vary by school and range from art and chess to running club and other intramural sports. At the middle school level, more than 9,000 students - 81% of middle school students participate in activities ranging from robotics to student council to video club, and/or the four sports offered at the middle school level; basketball, volleyball, track and field and wrestling.
