Destination Imagination's mission is to engage participants in project-based STEAM challenges that are designed to build confidence and develop extraordinary creativity, critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills. The Destination Imagination Challenge Experience is open to all Kindergarten through university-level students worldwide.
Students form teams of up to seven members, select their preferred challenge and work together to develop their challenge solution. Each team needs at least one adult volunteer to be a Team Manager to facilitate weekly meetings with the students. Training is provided both online and in-person.
Teams choose one challenge and spend several months perfecting their "solution". Teams present their solutions at local, regional and state competitions. The program concludes at the annual Global Finals, where top performing teams from all over the world gather to display their creative problem-solving abilities.
