National Security Agency Visits CCIC Cybersecurity Students
Representatives of the National Security Agency visited CCIC on February 8th and 9th and provided the Cybersecurity classes a live, hands-on demonstration of their extremely rare and valuable Enigma machine. Students learned the history of the use of the machine by the Nazi government in WWII to encrypt communications to their field military units. They also learned in detail how the machine works and gained an appreciation for how difficult it would be to crack. The NSA representatives explained how the machine was broken by Alan Turing and others at Blechley Park in the UK, resulting in many, many lives saved and an earlier end to WWII.
