In Social Studies, our mission is to encourage problem solving of real-world problems, develop students' essential social studies knowledge and skills, see the world from multiple perspectives and guide our diverse population in realizing their potential as citizens of the world.

Freshmen Pathway
As freshmen, students will focus on the following Enduring Understandings:

Interpreting and analyzing data.

Applying knowledge in order to create solutions to problems.

Writing arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.

Recognizing that understanding cultivates connections to other places and ideas.

Identifying how perspective influences reasoning.

Sophomore Pathway
As sophomores, students will focus on the following Enduring Understandings:

Analyzing and evaluating relationships and patterns to solve problems and predict trends (make predictions).

Setting personal goals and taking responsibility for those goals through reflection upon prior outcomes.
