Principal's Message

Liberty Community:

Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year.  In the next few weeks we look to return to the excitement and nervousness of a new school year.  Through all of the challenges of the past two years, I have continued to be humbled by the consistent support, kindness, and resiliency of our community.  I am honored to begin my seventh year as principal and 11^th year as a part of Liberty Middle School and the Grandview Feeder.   

I hope that this summer you and your families have taken time to relax, recharge, and grow as a family.  While we have met unprecedented challenges over the past year, we have the chance to embrace this year’s return to school as a great opportunity to respond with a growth mindset as one community for the benefit of all our students.  The staff at Liberty has learned many valuable lessons over the past year, is recharged, and ready to meet the challenges that lay ahead.  As we continue to partner together, I am confident we will address the challenges and overcome any hurdles this school year has in store.  Whether this is your first year of middle school, you are new to our community, or if Liberty continues to be your home, this year will be filled with excitement, changes, and challenges that we will face as one community. The good news is we always have been, and will continue to be, in this together standing strong in our Cherry Creek School District Values of Growth Mindset, Equity, Engagement, Whole Wellbeing, and Relationships. 

To help facilitate positive relationships, focus on each students’ whole wellbeing, and assist in a successful start to the school year for all students, we will continue with our “Phase in Week” that we have done over the past few years.  Please see the schedule below. 

PHASE IN WEEK:  Beginning August 15^th will be our phase in week. 

I know that you continue to put your trust in Liberty and the Cherry Creek School District, and I do not take that trust for granted.  Your children are coming to us this year with much excitement and maybe some trepidation too.  We have learned much in the past year and will continue to grow from our experiences.  Yet with so much at stake, rest assured that there is no other profession I would rather be in and no other place I would rather do this work than here with all of you at Liberty Middle School.  Be certain, our school goals remain unchanged; to be focused on your child’s success every day.  To do this we must continue to partner together, listen to each other, have empathy and care for each other, and ultimately build a school system where all our children are successful. 

I look forward to this year and our work together.  It takes a partnership to ensure success, and I am looking forward to partnering with you in this work. Please read below for more details and information regarding the upcoming school year.
