The Laredo Art Club is a place for practicing artists to hone in on their skills, develop their techniques and portfolios, collaborate with other artists like themselves, create bonds with the community through the arts, and learn how to work together through group projects that will beautify our school and community. We meet every other week on Wednesdays.

The purpose of the Chess Club is to provide students with an opportunity to play chess against each other, improve their strategic skills, and possibly participate in the district tournament.

Students in all grades are eligible to participate.

There is no fee.

Chess Club meets in Ms. Dunford's classroom.

Students may elect to participate in the District Chess Tournament in the Spring if a tournament is held this school year.

Students in all grades are welcome to participate in Drama Club.  Auditions are required to be part of the cast.  Backstage students must also apply to be part of each show. Students will be involved in the social, technical, and performance aspects of theater.

We are planning two productions this year.

Some rehearsals will be held in the evening and/or on weekends as the start of each show approaches.

The Fall play will be The Outsiders, December 6 at 6:30 pm and December 7 at 2:00pm 
The Spring Musical will be on March 27 and 28 at 6:30 pm at SHHS.

Girls decide on a Computer Science (CS) impact project and meet weekly to solve real world problems they care about through code.

In a safe, supportive environment of peers and role models, girls learn programming languages, and learn to see themselves as computer scientists.

Girls learn confidence, time-management, teamwork and communication, and address the shortage of women working in Computer Science.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an organization that focuses on the five pillars of the national organization's virtues:

• Scholarship
• Community Service
• Character
• Citizenship, and
• Leadership

Our club hosts many community events throughout the school year, which include our Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive, our partnership with Smoky Hill High School for Wish Week, Spirit Week, and a variety of other activities throughout the school year. Our students are not just academically minded but focus on being examples of excellence for the rest of the building.

Eighth-grade students who meet the academic criteria of a 3.5 GPA are invited to apply for membership in the spring of their seventh-grade year, for active membership while in eighth grade.

Extra meetings will occur in any month when the group is sponsoring a particular activity.

Peer Buddies is an after-school club where students of all abilities can come and make friends while eating snacks, playing games, listening to music, or making crafts.

Lion's Dance is a club dedicated to providing dancers of all grades and ability levels with an opportunity to learn new skills, develop long-lasting friendships, and perform for various audiences throughout the community. All are welcome!

Club members design, build, and program VEXIQ robots to compete in the District Robocon held in March. Teams are formed in October and the season runs through March.

Spectrum is an after-school club where students can come together to celebrate diversity, and build a strong sense of belonging and community at Laredo. Through engaging activities, discussions, and events. Spectrum raises awareness, but also works to create a positive environment where LGBTQIA2S+ students and their allies can connect. Join us to forge lasting friendships, and work together to ensure that every LGBTQIA2S+ student feels safe, accepted, and celebrated in our school.

The Student Council is an organization that exists to be representative of the student body and to serve as a collective voice of the students. Our goal is to provide students with the opportunity to develop and expand their leadership skills and knowledge by setting a positive course for others to follow. Throughout the year, students will help build a climate of care and tolerance through volunteerism and service. The club will sponsor activities, projects, and events that are fully accessible and inclusive for all students.

WEB, which stands for "Where Everyone Belongs", is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th Graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout their first year of the middle school experience. 

Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains 8th Graders to be WEB Leaders.  As positive role models, WEB leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th Graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th-grade success.

In particular, WEB leaders run the 6th Grade orientation each year before the start of the school year.

WEB Leaders also assist with morning announcements and 6th-grade Advisory lessons, and volunteer at other school-related functions throughout the year, including Back-to-School Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and 6th Grade Welcome Night.

WEB Leaders are eighth-grade students selected through an application process at the end of their seventh-grade year. We are looking for creative people who want to document our school's events for the year!

There is no participation cost.

Meetings are varied in timing and format and advance notice is given to the group members.
