• 2021 CMAS Testing Updated 3.24.21

     Dear Cherry Creek Schools families,

New legislation was signed into law over spring break that allows students to take only one CMAS test at their grade level for the Spring 2021 school year. The bill suspends CMAS/CoAlt testing in the following grade levels and content areas:

Math for students in grades 3, 5, and 7

    • English language arts for students in grades 4, 6, and 8
    • Science for students in grades 5, 8, and 11
    • Social studies for students enrolled in elementary and middle school

Parents wishing to have their students tested in a suspended content area at their grade level will need to opt their students in for that specific test. We will provide information and instructions for that process in the coming weeks.

The testing requirements will remain the same in high school:

    • PSAT and SAT testing for students in grades 9, 10, and 11
    • CoAlt ELA and Math testing for eligible students enrolled in grades 9, 10, and 11

As has always been the case for parents in Colorado, you can excuse your student from CMAS testing. If this is your choice, please fill out the exemption form located on the State Assessment Exemption tile at my.cherrycreekschools.org. The testing window begins March 29, so please fill out the opt-out form by end of day Thursday, March 25. You can view instructions for filling out the exemption here.

Thank you for your partnership in helping students succeed.

     Sincerely,

     Mónica M. García
