Whether a student’s focus is physical or occupational therapy, behavioral health, nursing, or pharmacy, the Health & Wellness pathway provides students opportunities to explore various Allied Health professions at the aide/technician level. In these courses, students will meaningfully integrate their knowledge and skills with hands-on labs, authentic clinical settings, and industry-grade equipment.
The Health & Wellness Pathway offers four program options:

Introduction to Health Care
Introduces the concepts and skills needed in health care incorporating foundational theory with professional skills. The course gives an overview of the pathways within health sciences focusing on: career exploration, principles of patient care, concepts of ethics, and personal and environmental safety. Introduces the structure of medical terms with emphasis on using and combining common prefixes, roots and suffixes in relation to the body systems with their related conditions and diseases.
Grades: 10-12
Length / Credit: 1 Semester / 1 Credit (.5 CTE / .5 Life Science)
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/FAS/AED
Concurrent Enrollment: Arapahoe Community College HPR 1040 - 3 credits
