Hello High Plains Community!
I am so excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve as principal of High Plains Elementary.
I would like to introduce myself. I was born in Colorado and have spent my whole life in our beautiful state. I grew up in northern Denver and attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley for my bachelor's and master's degrees. My wife of 14 years, Jenny, is a fantastic partner in life, the best mom for our two children, and a nurse at UCHealth in Aurora. My 10-year-old son, Jace, is going into 5th grade and loves to play lacrosse. My six-year-old daughter, Zoe, is entering 1st grade and loves gymnastics. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, cooking, hiking, playing golf, and playing games with my family. Most of all, I love to learn and help others reach their full potential.
Fall of 2024 will be my 16th year in elementary education and in the Cherry Creek School District. During this time, I have served at Mission Viejo Elementary as a music teacher for 11 years, as a PBIS coordinator for one year, and at Mountain Vista Elementary as the assistant principal for one year. My most recent experience is serving as the assistant principal at Holly Ridge Primary and Holly Hills Elementary Schools.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to become a part of the community and tradition of excellence at High Plains where we are dedicated to creating relationships that promote a lifelong spirit of inquiry by building confidence personally, socially, and academically. Through our vision of Every Child - Every Day, our students will be equipped to lead in a future that is still to be created through their pathway of purpose. This will be achieved with a focus on our values: through a foundation of equity, authenticity in all that we do, fostering a collaborative climate and placing relationships at the forefront of our work.
Thank you for allowing me to partner with you in your student's education.
Looking forward,
Robert Romero
