•

We have officially completed our second full week of school! The kids are doing a great job and we are so happy to see them each day. We just wanted to give you a few reminders as we move forward.

    No School Monday

Monday is Labor Day! Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

    Weather

It’s almost Fall which means our Colorado weather will be having us experiencing multiple seasons in one day! Please make sure your child is dressed for the colder mornings and possibly warmer afternoons. The forecast is calling for a high of 91 on Monday and a high of 43 with snow on Tuesday!

    Remote Learning Supplies

Your child’s teacher is preparing supplies to send home in the event we have to go into remote learning. It will look different for each grade level. Please look for communication on remote learning supplies from your child’s teacher in the near future. You will also learn more about remote learning during back to school night, Sep. 15th! More details coming about back to school night.

    Mask Reminder

The students are doing a great job wearing their masks! While we do have to give out reminders every once in a while, it is usually just due to forgetfulness or masks slipping down their noses.

Here is a reminder on the district policy for masks:

    • If a student is intentionally refusing to wear a mask they will be given a warning and educated on why we must wear masks.
    • If there is a second incident, they will be again educated on the necessity of masks and there will be a final warning.
    • If there is a third incident the student will be automatically transferred from in-person learning to online learning.

Please ensure that your child is coming to school each day with a face mask that fits appropriately. We also have extra masks on hand if you happen to forget!

We also ask for your partnership in keeping our community safe and healthy, all visitors (adults and children) on school grounds should wear a mask.

    Walk Your Wheels

Just a reminder that when on school property, scooters and bikes must be walked. We have so many children and adults outside that we want to ensure the safety of all.

    Visitors to School

As a friendly reminder, there are no visitors allowed past the main office entry this school year. This also includes entry from any of the outside doors. Please call the main office at 720-886-2901 so that we can assist you.

Thank you for your partnership and ensuring the healthy and safety of our Sunrise Community!

    Enjoy the long weekend!

    Dr. Sarah Famularo, Principal

    Kelly Olson, Assistant Principal

     RISE

    Good Evening Sunrise Community!

It was a great week welcoming grade levels back and we are excited to welcome our entire school back tomorrow! A few important things for you to know:

    • Students may not be on campus before 7:45 a.m. Any students on school grounds before 7:45 a.m. will be sent back home.
    • All doors will open at 7:45 a.m. and students need to enter the building through their assigned door (see map below). They will be able to enter through assigned doors until 8:00 a.m. Students arriving at or after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy and they need to check-in at the front office.
    • Breakfast will be served in classrooms from 8:00 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.
    • Please make sure you are using the Covid Symptom Checker each day before sending your child(ren) to school (information included below).
    • On school grounds everyone must have mask on (all students, staff, and visitors)
    • Please ensure that students are wearing masks that fit them
appropriately. We strongly discourage the use of gaiters and are asking all students wear masks.

    HOW SHOULD MY MASK FIT?

     masks

With your partnership, we will be able to keep all staff and students healthy and we can stay in school.

Please make sure of the following:

      • Your student’s mask fits correctly
      • The mask doesn’t fall below the nose
      • The mask stays in place without being held
      • Students do not have to touch the front of the mask to readjust frequently
      • Place an extra mask in backpacks

If a student’s mask does not fit:

Staff will provide a child-sized disposable mask

Staff will contact families about mask issues during the day

We appreciate your support to get all of our students wearing masks correctly and in following our above listed reminders! Please reach out with any questions!

    Covid Symptom Checker

The COVID Symptom Checker is a quick and convenient way for staff, parents and students to  identify potential COVID symptoms. The tool also provides direction on what to do - or not do - if a student or staff member is experiencing any of those symptoms.

All students and staff members are expected to do their part to protect the health and well-being of our school communities by using the COVID Symptom Checker before they come to school each day. There are two easy ways to access the Symptom Checker:

    1.  Log in to myCherryCreekand click on the COVID Symptom Checker tile.
    2.  Or click on this link - https://bit.ly/ccsd-health.

Once you open the COVID Symptom Checker, you’ll see several simple questions to answer. After you answer the questions, your results page will come up. Employees and student families must follow the instructions on the Symptom Checker if results are yellow or red. Using the Symptom Tracker should take less than a minute and will help protect the health of people inside and outside our schools.

For more information about how to use the COVID Symptom Checker, watch this short video.

Cherry Creek Schools has created a series of back-to-school videos on different aspects of In-Person learning. You can find them on Cherry Creek TV, the Cherry Creek Schools’ YouTube channel.

    August 10, 2020

    Dear Sunrise Community,

It is with great excitement I am sending you this email, welcoming you to our 2020-2021 school year! After months of our hallways and classrooms being empty, we have returned to the building and we are eagerly preparing and overjoyed to know that very soon our halls and classrooms will be filled with the laughter and joy of your children learning and in community as Sunrise Eagles! Our journeys over the last five months have each been unique. I recognize that the racial injustices present in our world and the pandemic have shaped the conversations happening in homes and how critically important it will be to listen to the voices of our children and families. It is our responsibility to listen and to ensure that we are embedding teachable moments into our classrooms. As a staff, we are committed to learning, growing, and engaging in conversations about race and equity to best serve all of our students at Sunrise Elementary.

As we are counting the days with great excitement to open our doors to our students, there are many important details that I would like to share as we plan for our return. First, every single aspect of our school environment and the school day has and will continue to be approached through a lens of safety. We have also spent countless hours planning to ensure that the learning experiences are engaging, fun and bring out the joy of learning, even as students and staff are navigating and implementing the various safety measures. We know this year will look different at Sunrise and in schools across our country. I can assure you our staff is dedicated to making this a great year for all of our students and community.

Due to the new routines and expectations, we are grateful that the Cherry Creek School District will begin the year with a phase in approach, which is outlined below. Please take your time and read everything in this email and in the communications we will send throughout the next few weeks.  Things may shift and change as we prepare. As we continue into the next week, please feel free to email me with any questions you or your family have about returning to school. Your questions are important to us and will help us better communicate with you as we enter school in a whole new way.

Finally, I know many of you want to hear who your child’s teacher is so you can reach out and feel the comfort that comes with knowing. You will find the information below about when that will be communicated to you and what our meet and greet will look like in a virtual setting.

Thank you for trusting us with your child(ren)! Thank you for your continued understanding, partnership and support.

    Your Partner in Education,

    Dr. Sarah Famularo

    Principal
