Welcome to another exciting year of self-exploration through visual art.  I am pleased to be back for my 11th year at Arrowhead.  Each and every year I try to create lessons that teach Arrowhead students the Colorado State Standards in Visual Arts.  I do my best to make the art room a safe place with lessons that are fun and engaging.  I rarely ask students to make a "cookie cutter" art project.  I want their art to be unique and personal.  Students will be using a variety of techniques and materials to develop their own unique style.

If you are interested in helping to put up artwork around the building or help out in the art room, please email me at nthompson9@cherrycreekschools.org or call me at 720-886-2850.  Also, if you or someone you know is an artist and would be interested in coming in as a "Guest Artist" I would love to hear from you.  I will gladly take donations of art supplies such as paper (all kinds), yarn, fabric, paints, brushes etc.  If you have a creative donation that you think I could use, please contact me (think, "Interesting Forms").  This fall I am looking for objects that could be used as instruments (maybe even an old instrument that we could keep to decorate).

This year Arrowhead's specials teachers are working together on a couple of interdisciplinary units.  Our goal is to bring the arts and sciences together on some projects.

Finally, I want to let you know that I often save your student's best artworks for art shows and for display around the school, so don't worry if you don't see much art coming home right away.  We are also going to be doing the Art to Remember fundraiser again this year.  The first two projects that we do in art this year will be possible works for that program.

Thanks for your interest in Arrowhead's Visual Arts program and please let me know if you want to help out.

    Sincerely,

    Neil Thompson (Mr. T)
