• Hello, Cimarron Elementary Families ~ My name is Lindsey Hubbell and I am delighted to be the new Art teacher! I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you this 2022-2023 school year. I have taught both elementary and secondary Art and am happy to return to my true love—being an elementary Art teacher! Here’s a little bit about me:

I am a Coloradan, born and raised. With the encouragement of my high school Art teacher, I chose to pursue Art as a career. As the first step in my journey, I finished my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Denver in 2014. I loved traveling during college—along the Mediterranean (Spain, France & Italy) on an art history tour, a summer study abroad trip to the Burren College of Art in Ireland, and to Paris & London to study photography. Several of my Art works have been published and my work has appeared in various exhibitions in the Denver area. Completing an internship in the collections department at the Denver Botanic Gardens, I helped install/de-install the Chihuly glass exhibit. I returned to DU in 2017 to earn my master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction & Teaching and am now starting my 5th year teaching K-12 Visual Arts.  A few summers ago, I was invited to Georgia O’Keefe’s Ranch as an Artist in residence.  I’ve also had a lot of fun modeling for a local agency since high school plus acting in 2 Indie films so far! My other passions (besides making Art) are music, hiking, yoga and paddle boarding.

I will be teaching students this year to enter the Art room with an artistic mindset and treat the space as their personal Art studio. Art is an important part of each child’s education. It’s such a BIG subject but not like math or science. Art knowledge isn’t easily tested and there are no right and wrong answers. It’s about making CONNECTIONS, emotionally with ourselves and others—crossing divides of time and culture. Art helps us view the world with a new lens. I am so happy to be on this journey with each of you as we explore new worlds and develop our creative abilities and technical skills! Please stay in touch and don’t hesitate to speak with me in any way that is most comfortable for you, either on the phone, an email or a personal visit.

    Thank you,

    Lindsey Hubbell lhubbell@cherrycreekschools.org
