Neurodiverse Student Services at Willow Creek

  • At Willow Creek, we are committed to identifying and serving gifted and neurodiverse learners. Students are identified as gifted based on a body of evidence that includes achievement scores, intellectual ability scores, and behavior rating scales. These students require services beyond the rich and varied services normally provided by the classroom teacher. At Willow Creek, the classroom teacher and the gifted and talented teacher work collaboratively to ensure students’ needs are met.

Willow Creek provides a variety of programs to meet the needs of gifted learners. Students are placed in a cluster group in their grade level classroom. This ensures students have similar ability peers in the regular classroom. Our academic program also includes co-teaching in which the gifted and talented teacher pushes into the regular classroom to teach alongside the general education teacher. Other programming options include curriculum compacting, differentiation, and individualized pacing. Services and programs are flexible and are matched to meet the needs of each student.
