For the safety of students and the accurate monitoring of attendance, please follow the procedures below. Absences will not be excused without a specific date and specific class periods that will be missed.
If your student attends CCIC, you'll need to call their attendance line as well to excuse classes for CCIC. CCIC Attendance Line: 720-554-2695.Option 1: Submit the Google Form

Illnesses During the School Day
In the event that a student becomes ill at school and needs to go home, they must either:
- Report to the clinic. The nurse will phone a parent/guardian and obtain permission.
- Have a parent/guardian call and give permission to the main office at the time the student is leaving.
Parent Notification
Our computerized parent notification system will call your designated number at the end of each school day to inform you of unexcused absences. A call to the Attendance Office to excuse the absence on the day of the absence (before 2:00 p.m.) will prevent the computer from calling you. We appreciate your help in following these procedures. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Attendance Office or your student’s Dean.
GHS Attendance Policies and Procedures
- Absences that are not excused within 48 hours will require the dean’s approval to change the absence to “excused.”
- Errors: If you believe your student was marked tardy or absent in error, your student should communicate directly with their teacher to clear up any discrepancies. If any corrections need to be made, your student's teacher will email the attendance office with any corrections needed. Due to call volume, the attendance office cannot contact your student's teacher for you.
- In the event of a situation in which the student is supervised temporarily by an adult other than the parents, the parent should notify the attendance office in writing, providing the name, address and phone number of the supervising adult.
- The district may require suitable proof regarding the above exceptions, including written statements from medical sources.
- MAKING UP MISSED WORK AT GRANDVIEW: A reasonable length of time will be allowed for students to prepare and hand in make-up work due to absences. District Policy allows for two days to make up missed work for each day a student is absent (two days means two class contact days).
- A student MAY NOT be excused by a parent or guardian from classes while the student is on campus, including to make-up work or to take a test for another class.
- All 9th grade students are expected to remain in attendance on campus at all times during the school day, including during lunch time.
For all students with attendance concerns, consequences may include:
- Lunch Detention, Off Period Detention, After School Detention, Saturday School Detention, and/or Activities Restrictions (i.e. dances, sports, etc.)
- SSD or ASD may consist of a meeting with post-secondary community resources (guest speaker, vocational employment, etc.)
- For Freshmen and Sophomores, if the above consequences do not curb attendance concerns, the Student Attendance Review Board process below will commence.
We appreciate your help in following these procedures. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Attendance Office or your student’s Dean.
