Students learn more than just robotics at RoboCon
The Falcon Creek Middle School gym was filled with cheers and excitement during the third annual Cherry Creek Schools’ RoboCon on March 11. During the all-day event, 26 schools were represented with 115 teams competing.

Destination Imagination regional tournament builds confidence, teamwork
Twenty-two teams from a dozen schools participated in the Cherry Creek School District’s annual Destination Imagination regional tournament, held on March 11 at Grandview High School. Each team selected a challenge and worked together to develop a solution, then presented their challenge to the judges. This year, every challenge had a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) element and a technical piece to it.

Chalkbeat Colorado: More children are grieving after the loss of a parent. Cherry Creek schools are piloting a program just for them.
Last year, the Cherry Creek School District began a pilot program with grief-care nonprofit Judi’s House in Aurora to host group therapy for elementary age students. The Cherry Creek Schools Foundation is funding the program.

Across the Cherry Creek School District, students and teachers, parents and families, staff and community members are getting ready to “Read Together, Dream Together,” during Cherry Creek Reads 2023, coming up March 13-17.

Starting teacher salary will be among highest in the Front Range next year
The salary for new teachers will start at $57,000 next year, a significant increase the district hopes will attract talented new teachers looking for classroom jobs. The new schedule also raises salaries for all teachers across the spectrum of classroom experience and offers additional compensation for teachers and certified staff who further their education.
