MyCAP (My Career and Academic Plan)

All secondary students in Cherry Creek must develop their plans for graduation and beyond. The MyCAP process starts in 6th grade and lays the critical foundation for exploring self-awareness, post-secondary and career opportunities, and short- and long-term goal-setting. This planning helps ensure that each student's post-secondary goals are aligned with their chosen pathway.  MyCAP is a working portfolio that follows the student from middle to high school, through 12th grade, and may include, but is not limited to: 

  • Career exploration, including interests and strengths surveys;
  • Academic progress, including courses taken, assessment results (PSAT, SAT);
  • Financial literacy lessons;
  • Experiences in work-based learning; 
  • Post-secondary credit opportunities in high school, such as concurrent and dual enrollment;
  • Completing various applications (college admissions, scholarships, internships, etc.).

Naviance Student

Naviance Student is a comprehensive web-based platform for career and college planning. It is the portfolio in which a student's My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) is created, stored, and monitored. Students may access Naviance through the active directory tiles (my.cherrycreekschools.org). For questions about Naviance Student or MyCAP, please consult with your school counselor, who can assist you.

Additionally, Naviance Student allows you to:

  • Create plans for the future – goal setting, course planning, learning style inventories, résumé building, and various career exploration inventories/assessments.
  • Students will complete assigned tasks as part of MyCAP to better prepare them for their future career goals.
  • Research careers, including military jobs, based on interests, strengths, values, educational preparation, and predicted growth.
  • Research 2- and 4-colleges and universities – compare entrance requirements like GPA and standardized test scores, explore majors, student activities, athletic offerings, and more.
  • Research summer enrichment opportunities.
  • Search for local and national scholarships.
