Concurrent and Dual Enrollment

Cherry Creek School District offers Concurrent and Dual Enrollment courses that allow students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously. Students can earn college credits in a variety of Career & Technical Education, core academic, and general elective courses. Concurrent Enrollment courses are tuition-free through a local community college. Dual Enrollment courses have a minimal per-credit fee through a local university.

All Concurrent and Dual Enrollment courses are taught at CCSD high schools by CCSD teachers who have been approved as adjunct faculty by an accredited community college or university.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see what courses are offered in which high schools this year.

Why take these classes

  • Concurrent/Dual Enrollments courses provide an excellent opportunity for students to earn college credits for their future education, possibly reducing the cost and number of semesters to complete an associate or undergraduate degree.
  • Students are enrolled in college-level coursework which helps prepare them for post-secondary study.
  • Concurrent/Dual Enrollment classes demonstrate the student's pursuit of rigorous coursework, which is important for many college applications.
  • College credit is earned with a C or better and not based on one exam at the end of the year. (The student must complete the required paperwork at the beginning of the semester to earn college credit.)
  • Many of our CCSD high schools offer a variety of Concurrent Enrollment and Dual Enrollment elective classes. This can be a great way to explore a student's interests and passions while earning credit towards college and certifications.
  • Many colleges in Colorado and out-of-state accept Concurrent Enrollment credit.  A college advisor at your chosen post-secondary will determine if/how the credits will transfer and if they satisfy degree requirements. (The Colorado Department of Education has helpful tools for evaluating guarantee transfer credit to Colorado schools: checklist and guidelines.)

Who can enroll in Concurrent/Dual Enrollment courses?

  • Students in grades 9-12, who are under the age of 21
  • Students who receive approval for the class as part of their Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP)
  • Students who meet the minimum prerequisites for the course
