Identification Overview

Cherry Creek Schools defines neurodiverse (Gifted & Talented) learners as children possessing outstanding talent and performing, or demonstrating the potential to perform, at remarkably high levels of achievement when compared with their same-aged peers, experience and/or environment. Such students require services beyond the rich and varied services provided in the general education classroom. Outstanding talents are present in all cultural groups, across all socio-economic strata and in all arenas of human endeavor.

Appeals

An appeals process may be initiated by notifying, in writing, the Teacher of the Neurodiverse at the building. The appellant will meet with the school principal and the Teacher of the Neurodiverse to review data. New information may be introduced to clarify inaccuracies, review decisions and decide a future course of action. If the applicant is not satisfied with the decision reached at this meeting, a written appeal may be made to the Director of Neurodiverse Student Services to review the decision.
